On December 14th, Oceano launched its 12th Japan Design Tour. During the eight-day journey, participating designers will explore the most authentic Japan more deeply and learn about different Japanese designs. inspiration. To this end, we interviewed participating designer Li Dawei to see what his understanding and opinions were about this study tour.

Reporter: What is your biggest gain from this trip?
Li:The biggest reward is of course the feeling of experiencing it personally. Through this in-depth tour, I felt that Japan is a country that integrates spirit into work and life. National conditions vary, and we don’t necessarily need to compare China with it, but Japan’s general dedication to work and rigorous attention to details are very commendable.
Reporter: What do you think are the advantages and disadvantages of Japanese architecture or industrial design compared with our current domestic home furnishing industry? What do you think we can learn from?
Li: National conditions and geography are different, resulting in differences in the evolution of architectural history. Japanese architecture is simple but not complicated, sophisticated and meticulous, and seeks innovation and change based on tradition. In comparison, China's buildings are majestic, tall and unparalleled in their momentum, and they still have an irreplaceable position. But everyone in Japan does their best to do the things they do.The spirit of craftsmanship is what we need to learn.
"Takumi" in Japan can also be called "craftsman", and its development history is long. Why has the "craftsman spirit" been inherited and developed? I think on the one hand, the government and people from all walks of life attach great importance to the "craftsman spirit". On the other hand, the spirit conveyed behind the craftsman culture is a symbol of the cohesion of the entire nation. It represents not only a commodity, but also a whole nation. value and the soul of a craftsman.
Reporter: You often travel in your life. Does it have any inspiration or help for your design?
Li:Traveling is also a kind of spiritual practice! Going to strange places, meeting new people, experiencing different cultures, customs, etc., you can understand the different lifestyles of people in different regions and accumulate your own experience and life experience; at the same time, you can also see different design creativity and ideas in many industries , enrich your own vision and design thinking.
Reporter: Which country do you plan to visit for the next stop of your design tour? What's the reason?
Li:My next stop is Milan, because it is the capital of fashion and is very forward-looking no matter what industry it is. As designers, we should travel more and broaden our horizons so that we can have better inspiration.
