On December 22, 2021, the last stop of the "China Design Knowledge Conference" jointly sponsored by Owen Lai Ceramics and Knowledge Astronauts came to Chengdu and was a complete success. The conference joined hands with five outstanding designers, Zhang Can, Lin Wenge, Shao Huabo, Wen Chao, and Wang Chongqing, to give keynote speeches. Together with more than 500 designers present, they went on a wonderful journey of exploration of design aesthetics and gained insight into the infinite charm of design. , vitality and development possibilities. In fact, everyone will find that when you experience a B&B or other space, all this comes from your home life and your relationship with society, the natural environment, and architecture. All these things have become memories of you. It's a system. How does your system, your consciousness interact with this space, and what does it produce? This is exactly what we subconsciously want when we go to B&Bs and other residences.
So I say that the destination of our travel is our "self", the departure of the body and the return of the soul. Sometimes I tell my designers, in fact, you have to know that what you are doing is very great, because sometimes just such a structure, just such a design, can bring people an inspiration about themselves and nature. This is also the underlying logic behind my development after exploring B&Bs or spaces. Our final direction is to inspire everyone whether you can stay well and interact with the outside naturally. Why can you stay? Because you can be with yourself, return to yourself, and care about your heart.

The spirit of place actually covers many aspects. One is to consider the project background relationship just mentioned from the architect's point of view, the natural scenery around the site, the orientation of the sun, etc. Architecture, this is a category.
Another place spirit is actually a business model. Just put your hotel in this place and echo the surrounding businesses. Why did this original plan make the owner dissatisfied? He placed the main work area of the hotel and then the lobby on a commercial street pier. What is planned in the picture is a commercial street. The prototype of the retro commercial street is actually the best and broadest area. Just like when we went to Lijiang to see the ancient city, it has a location on Sifang Street. It is in this square area and a place where people gather. He mixed the hotel reception area with a restaurant and placed it in that location.
I say there is a problem with positioning because it does not fully understand the two dimensions of the spirit of the place. I just analyzed two insured technical units, an academy and a Pearl River Garden. Now the guest room area of the hotel is completely interrupted. In fact, there is no such guest room in the middle of the existing building. So after planning like this, the entire hotel room is placed in the "breathing" area of the hotel. Where everyone sees the poetic place, it is blocked. Therefore, as long as it is a luxury hotel or a high-end hotel, privacy is very important. Its invisibility and the degree of dialogue with the landscape are very important.

So far, I think I no longer design for myself, but hope to use our thinking to pay attention to the underlying logic of design, including the real demands of the objects we design, and pay more attention to the relationship between people in the city and relationship, and pay more attention to the actual demand relationship between each individual. That’s why we later proposed that our design proposition is called free use doctrine.
