Nuclear energy steam supply is a new way to use the heat of nuclear power plants to solve the steam demand of the petrochemical industry, reduce comprehensive energy consumption and eliminate environmental pollution. The Tianwan Nuclear Power Steam Energy Supply Project uses steam from Tianwan Nuclear Power Units 3 and 4 as the heat source. The design adopts double isolation between the primary and secondary circuits of the nuclear power plant, and the secondary circuit and the industrial steam circuit. In the case of physical isolation, it uses multiple Stage heat exchange, and finally transport the steam to Lianyungang Petrochemical Industry Base for industrial production and utilization through the industrial steam pipeline network, ensuring that nuclear energy steam supply technology is safe, reliable, clean and efficient.

The steam demander for this project is the Lianyungang Petrochemical Industry Base. As one of the seven petrochemical industry bases planned and constructed in my country's coastal areas, this petrochemical base is a national ecological industrial demonstration park designated by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the Ministry of Commerce, and the Ministry of Science and Technology, and strives to build a world-class large-scale petrochemical base. With the implementation of this project, Lianyungang Petrochemical Base will further optimize the level of green energy and contribute to building a world-renowned green petrochemical base.

The Tianwan Nuclear Power Steam Energy Supply Project is a key project in Jiangsu Nuclear Power’s “14th Five-Year Plan” development plan. Under the guidance and support of the Lianyungang Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, Jiangsu Nuclear Power Co., Ltd., Lianyungang City Xuwei New District Petrochemical Base jointly carried out construction planning, and the project design has passed the review of the Electric Power Planning and Design Institute. The project started pile foundation construction on February 23. At present, the relocation of the meteorological tower and environmental monitoring station and the construction of all pile foundations of the energy station have been completed. It is expected that the structural capping of the desalination plant and energy station supporting the project will be completed by the end of the year.

Liu Yongsheng, general manager and project leader of Jiangsu Nuclear Power Maintenance, said that the Tianwan Nuclear Power Steam Energy Supply Project can provide 4.8 million tons of industrial steam to the Lianyungang Petrochemical Base every year, which is equivalent to reducing the burning of standard coal every year. 400,000 tons, contributing green power to the energy supply of Lianyungang petrochemical base, and also providing an energy demonstration plan for the transformation and upgrading of the national petrochemical industry. As a nuclear power enterprise of China National Nuclear Corporation in Jiangsu, in addition to nuclear power generation, Jiangsu Nuclear Power actively explores the comprehensive utilization of nuclear energy in various ways such as nuclear energy steam supply, contributing to the establishment of a near-zero emission energy system in my country and achieving the goal of "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality" Nuclear power.

The Tianwan Nuclear Power Steam Energy Supply Project has a total investment of 730 million and a construction period of 24In September, it is expected to be put into production and supply steam by the end of 2023. After the project is completed, the annual steam supply will be 4.8 million tons, equivalent to reducing emissions of 1.07 million tons of carbon dioxide, 184 tons of sulfur dioxide, and 263 tons of nitrogen oxides, which is equivalent to an additional afforestation area of ​​2,900 hectares. At the same time, it saves more than 700,000 tons of carbon emission targets for petrochemical bases every year, providing more environmental space.
